Jr. Parent's Night

College, Military & Career Info!

April 4, 2007 ... 7:00 PM in the Bray Auditorium

....check the College Placement Timetable!

As students enter their junior year the emphasis is on helping students and their parents begin post-secondary planning. Parents and students should carefully read the monthly Blue Notes and information put out by the Guidance Department to assure that they do not miss important information about critical junior issues such as PSAT dates and college mini-fairs. Students should plan to attend the series of three student groups and both students and parents are invited to the evening series. Families are also encouraged to schedule a conference with their son's/daughter's counselor to evaluate their record, to discuss options, and to help personalize recommendations.
Post-Secondary Planning Groups for Students
October - November - Post Secondary Planning Group -- small group meetings with your counselor and other juniors which focuses on course selection for senior year, including graduation requirements and ramifications for college selection. College testing dates are discussed. What will you do after you graduate from AHS? Are you going to college ... to work ... or ... in the military? What are your options?

April & May - Individual Planning Session -- meeting which focuses just on you! This is to discuss your Planning and Information Questionnaire and help with your plans for after graduation. What do you want to do in life? What do you need to do to accomplish it?

Post-Secondary Planning Evening Meeting for Students and Parents

March - Post-Secondary Planning Evening Meeting -- an overview of the entire post-secondary planning process with a focus on specifics of what families should be doing in spring and in summer. A college admissions representative discusses issues such as the college visit, the interview, and the essay.

Parents are encouraged to contact teachers, guidance counselors or school adjustment counselors with questions or concerns that might arise during the school year.

. ..There is a Regional College Fair at Bishop Feehan High School on April 12, 2006.... lots of schools coming for you to look at!

Students and parents should go! It will be helpful to you.
