FRESHMAN INFO SESSION

WHEN?

Starting in October you will be invited to a special session for 9th graders to learn a little about what your Guidance Counselor can do for you. It will last no longer than 30 minutes. These meetings will continue until the counselor has met with all of their freshmen. All freshmen should expect a meeting before the December holiday vacation.

WHO WILL BE THERE?

You, 4 other 9th graders, and your counselor.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

You will take a tour of the guidance area, learn about a 4-year plan for high school, and talk about choices after graduation. You will look at a sample senior transcript that AHS sends to colleges to which you are applying. We will talk about the importance of having a successful 4 years here at AHS.

WHERE DO I GO?

Your counselor's office in the Guidance Department

WHY SHOULD I GO?

Because it's important for you to understand that what you do for the next four years at AHS will effect your options for the choices that you have after high school. Do you know what your choices are? What about how grades could limit your choices? … Attendance? … The levels of the classes you take? What is important about the sports and other activities that you participate in?
