What
Are You Doing This Summer?
If you are planning on
going to college, it is important that you use the next
few months wisely in order to prepare yourself for your
senior year and the college search process. Here are some
suggestions:
Continue your search for
colleges. At this point, you should have an idea of which
colleges interest you. Continue to explore your
preferences regarding size, location, cost, and other
important criteria and begin to compile a list of schools
that you plan on applying to.
The summer is also a
great time to gather information from siblings, cousins,
and friends who are home from college. Ask them about
their particular schools and experiences. You may also
want to explore the possibility of visiting them in the
fall.
Get
Organized!
1. Be sure to request
information from the colleges that interest
you.
2. Go through the college
publications that you receive in the mail.
3. Separate the ones you
have an interest in from the ones you do not. Save the
ones that are in your "no" pile and donate them to the
guidance department when you return in
September.
4. Create a folder for
each college you are considering.
5. Begin to work on your
college essay.
6. Think about and
identify two teachers from whom you will seek letters of
recommendation. If you already know the teachers that you
would like to request letters of recommendation from,
approach them at the end of the year in June or at the
beginning in September.
VISIT! Although
colleges are rather quiet in the summer, there are still
a variety of opportunities to get on campus and take a
look.
Schedule
changes may be made on the following
date
Wednesday, August 3rd --- 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM

information has changed, please be sure to notify the
guidance department.
