ATTLEBORO - With references to the Wizard of Oz, world politics and conquering the future, members of Attleboro High School's Class of 2010 took their diplomas in an evening graduation ceremony marked by perfect weather and an ample supply of humor.
Principal Jeffrey Newman, addressing the 386 graduates, friends and families, cited the L. Frank Baum classic Friday during his welcome as a testament to human potential told through animal characters.
"When the straw man complained to the Wizard that his makers had forgotten to give him a brain, the Wizard said 'back where I come from there are great seats of learning where men go to become great thinkers and they've got no more brains than you. But they have one thing you haven't got. A diploma.'" More
