Evacuation
Definition:
The process of moving all students and staff out of the building to a designated safe location due to an internal emergency like a fire.

Fire, chemicals, noxious odor/fumes, gas leak

Staff Responsibility
Direct students to follow your direction.
Grab the safety folder/clipboard/rosters.
Close windows, shut off the lights and close doors.
Exit the building to your safe area.
Take attendance.
Staff without Students:
Get out of the building the fastest way possible, checking any bathrooms you pass along the way. Assist any students as needed.
Once outside, walk to your designated safety area to check in.
Student Responsibility
Follow the adult’s directions.
If students are on their own in the building at the time of the alarm, they should find the nearest adult and tell them their name.
If they cannot find an adult, they should leave the building and find an adult outside.
If the hallway doors are closed, they should open them to get to the nearest exit.
Post Communication
Staff should not be communicating with families unless directed to do so by administration.
Once cleared to go in, an announcement will be made:
Building all clear. OK to return.
